Training Programs – Testimonials

“Enrolling in the First-Step program was truly an amazing decision that profoundly transformed our lives as a family. As a new mother, I was eager to learn how to be the best for my baby. Choosing First-Step’s specialized training was one of the most impactful choices I’ve ever made. The course structure, its duration, and the precision of the practicum and exercises based on the Feldenkrais Method were exceptional. The expertise of the instructors, along with the masterclasses and workshops, were all invaluable. Since discovering this incredible approach to baby development, I can’t imagine doing anything else but becoming a therapist and sharing this knowledge with as many parents as possible.”

Yulia Meleshchenko, Graduate & Therapist of First-Step method,Former Media Business Manager

What truly brings me joy today is the opportunity to share knowledge. I have a profound passion for teaching  First-Step method, because I wholeheartedly believe in its efficacy. I’ve witnessed firsthand how it can swiftly and significantly impact both infants and entire families. Once we pinpoint the specific assistance a family requires, the results become almost immediate.
Helping first-time parents navigate the trials, relish the journey, and savor the rewards of parenthood is an unparalleled gift, both to others and to myself. As a mother today, it’s the most profound joy in the world. If you feel a calling toward this, toward infants, toward parenthood, if you possess that intuition, don’t let it slip away.”

Tami Sheffer, bachelor’s degree in psychology , infant swim instructor and a First-Step method instructor for the past 12 years.

“After completing the infant development training program at First Step, I furthered my studies to include toddler development. Once my studies were finished, I began establishing my own business. Simultaneously, I continued working at First Step, teaching courses and engaging with families from abroad.Following that, what holds utmost significance is embarking on educational pursuits, keeping in mind that our expertise holds immense significance. Even in the present day, I consistently strive for ongoing learning and personal evolution, ensuring the maintenance of the highest standards of professionalism for the infants and families under my care. Beyond the academic aspect, the learning journey itself encompasses a lot of personal growth, a facet I encourage all those following this path to wholeheartedly embrace right from the start.”

Inbal Barak, First-Step College Graduate,CEO of Inbal Barak Center for parents and babies.

“Eighteen years ago, with the birth of my eldest son, Shai Silberbusch appeared on the TV program “Gallery of Experts”, discussing the topic of infant development. I was captivated by the show, eagerly awaiting each episode, and then practicing with my son.

That marked my initial introduction to First Step, and it ignited a dream to pursue studies there. It took me several years to muster the courage, but eventually, I took the plunge and began my educational journey. Ever since, I’ve been an instructor and part of the First Step team for the past seven years.I’ve had a strong connection to the world of infants since childhood, and it was clear to me early on that I would pursue a career related to children. There’s something profoundly rewarding about assisting families in making seemingly small adjustments that can ultimately bring about substantial positive changes for both the child and the parents.”

HOW THE FIRST-STEP TRAINING CHANGED MY LIFE

A dear friend – Francesca Seegy – invited me to a First-Step workshop with Shai Silberbush in Zürich. As I’m interested in movement – and this is what the workshop was about – I went.

During the workshop Shai Silberbush worked with a baby who had challenges to move. I was fascinated by the changes I could observe in this little boy after Shai Silberbush worked with him for an hour. That was enough evidence for me to sign up for the training. I thought „I want to be able to do this as well.“But I had no idea how taking on this new path would impact my whole life.

Besides learning and understanding how we all develop from birth on, how we learn to crawl, walk and jump I also learned how things can go wrong. And there are a million reasons for challenges in development. They can be genetic, they can be caused by diseases, traumas and accidents. And they can also occur du to unfavorable conditions in the environment – meaning the parents and other people with whom the baby grows up.It’s the elusive obvious.

All these new observations made me have a closer look at my own childhood and upbringing. It made me face my own beliefs. It made me question my own behavior and challenged me to rethink the way I interact with other people.

I am deeply grateful to my friend for introducing me to the First-Step method as it was the beginning of my transformational journey of inner change and growth.

Heike Joas – First-Step Instructor in Switzerland

“I considered training in childbirth, but felt that it was not quite what I was looking for until I discovered the First-Step method. From the first lesson, I felt that this was the place for me, a place where I could grow and deepen my knowledge of child development. The First-Step method involves the whole family, using a holistic and broad approach. It does not focus only on the baby, but builds family security through proper and supportive communication. My role is not only to help the baby, but also to support the parents, to create a sense of security in them and to help them provide the child with a safe family environment. The method is easily and naturally integrated into family life and brings much joy and meaning to the life of the whole family.”

Natalia Tavil Rusov, BA in Psychology and experience working in a hostel for people with mental disabilities, First-Step instructor and an assistant in a First-Step instructor training course.

“The training program taught me so much about baby development. The knowledge I gained helps me every day to better respond to children’s needs and support their growth in the best possible way. I am incredibly grateful for this valuable experience! I have successfully applied what I learned to support the development of my own son, who has Down syndrome, and I am also applying this knowledge during my bachelor’s in early childhood education, where I focus on inclusion. In my studies, we learn that early detection is crucial and the knowledge I gained through the First Step program truly adds value here. This program has proven to be incredibly versatile and impactful in various settings.”

The value of the self experience:

“What distinguishes the learning experience at ‘First Step” is that it happens across three dimensions: theoretical, experimental and practical.

In order to understand how the baby’s motion develops, we experience this motion on our own bodies.”
