Heike Joas – First-Step Instructor in Switzerland

Mission

I am here wholeheartedly, with all my knowledge, to support and teach you how to empower your child to reach their full potential. My approach centers on creating a safe, engaging environment where your child feels secure and valued, as learning can only happen from a place of safety.

Approach

Through my own learning journey, I have internalized how natural movement develops – from lying on our backs as infants to eventually running and jumping. I use this knowledge to guide children in learning movements that they may not be able to acquire independently. My approach is holistic, teaching children to move through sensing and feeling, leading to an organic, rather than mechanical, learning process – one that is both powerful and lasting.

Background 

I began my journey with First-Step as a student in a specialized training program in 2013, gaining foundational insights into movement, sensations and emotions. I graduated in 2014 as a certified First-Step practitioner for baby and child development.

Other certifications include the Anat Baniel Method, NeuroHorizons Training, NeuroMovement, and Feldenkrais.

The First-Step method takes a holistic approach, working with all aspects of the nervous system and the senses. It is based on the Feldenkrais method. To learn more about Feldenkrais click here .

Location & Services

My office is located in the Berner Oberland, overlooking the beautiful lake Thun. Coming here is healing already. When you come here for lessons you learn and relax at the same time.

If traveling is not convenient for you, I’m also happy to come to your place. Every intensive – meaning several days in a row with 2 lessons per day – is tailored to your comfort and to your child’s needs.

I speak fluently German and English.
