My name is Anat Firstenberg. I’m a mother of three boys and have been living in Barcelona for the past four years. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology and am currently leading an instructor training course, managing professional development programs for educational staff, and working as a family instructor at First-Step.
I joined First-Step nearly 16 years ago. Prior to that, I worked in the field of psychology and was employed at a women’s shelter. At a certain point, I felt a strong inner calling to make a shift and focus on working with infants and children—a passion that’s been with me since I was a child myself. It was a natural transition.
One of the most important aspects of my work is the opportunity to give. And in this field, I feel I not only give but receive so much in return. I learn something new every day, gain perspective, and deepen my understanding of life. My work today feels perfectly aligned with who I am.
What fills me with purpose is being able to support people, enrich their knowledge, and help lead positive change—while truly listening and responding to their unique needs. Every child and every family is different, and my role is to offer guidance tailored specifically to them.
To work in this field, you truly need to love it. It requires deep listening, patience, and an open heart. Giving is essential, but it must be rooted in understanding the other person’s needs and recognizing the challenges they face.
At First-Step our courses are not just about acquiring knowledge—they’re also a journey of deep personal growth. Our students gain profound self-awareness, which is a core strength of our program. I care deeply about the personal development of each and every student I work with.
